By using Chitin, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What Chitin is

Chitin names insects, spiders and other arthropods from a photo and shows a confidence score, look-alikes and general information. Results come from an AI model and can be wrong. Chitin is for curiosity and learning. For a bad bite or sting, an allergic reaction or an infestation, contact a doctor, local emergency services or a pest professional.

Free scans and Chitin Pro

Your first 3 scans are free. Chitin Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that gives you unlimited scans.

Acceptable use

Do not use Chitin to attempt to identify people, to harass or endanger anyone, or in any way that violates applicable law. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or abuse the identification backend.

No warranty

Chitin is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that identifications will be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Chitin, including reliance on an identification result. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
